Mac OS 8.5.1 Update fixes a memory leak in AppleScript, a
memory problem in the file system, and a Mac OS Extended format
corruption issue, re-enables the use of many third party ADB
devices, and provides some improved communication through
Internet proxy firewalls for Sherlock. In addition, Apple has
developed a number of additional Sherlock plug-ins that are
included in this update.

The G3 CD Update places new firmware on certain CD-ROM drive
mechanisms. This new firmware eliminates an issue of long delays
occurring during wakeup from sleep. This wakeup problem has
only been observed in certain types of Power Macintosh G3
models, with a certain model of CD-ROM drive.

If your modem supports only the K56flex protocol (shipping in
the first PowerBook G3 Series computers) or if you are exper-
iencing unreliable connections on your V.90 internal modem,
Apple recommends that you upgrade the modem firmware. The
Apple Modem Updater installs the latest Rockwell firmware based
on version 2.2.

The PowerBook G3 continues to supply power to the built in
modem for 30 seconds after an application has used the modem.
With version 1.0 of the modem extension, if the PowerBook G3 is
put to sleep immediately after terminating connection, the modem
will continue to draw power which reduces the amount of charge
left in the battery. Version 1.0.1 corrects this by turning off the
modem when the PowerBook G3 is put to sleep.

The iMac Update 1.0 includes these improvements to the Universal
Serial Bus (USB) software for iMac. While every iMac customer
should install this update, only iMac customers that use additional
USB devices other than the Apple USB keyboard and Apple USB
mouse included with their iMac are likely to notice the improve-
iments after installation.

The iMac CD Firmware Update reduces the amount of vibration
caused by certain CDs in the internal CD-ROM drive. This vibra-
tion is typically caused by unbalanced CDs when spinning at higher
speeds in the internal CD-ROM drive. This vibration may cause
the drive to have difficulty reading the CD.The iMac CD Firmware
Update application places new firmware on the CD-ROM Drive to
reduce the amount of disc vibration.

Offering Apple's standard in video, music, and voice compression
technologies for Macintosh and Windows, QuickTime 3.0 also lets
you experience video and audio as soon as they arrive. The new
QuickTime system software extension enables you to create, edit,
and play video, graphics, sound, sprites, text, music, 3D and
animation in documents, CD-ROM titles, and over the Internet.

If you are having difficulty making and maintaining connections,
try the iMac Internal 56k (v.34 Only) script. This script forces
the modem to connect at 33.6 kbps or lower speeds. These
connections are more robust in situations where the phone line
quality is marginal.

Apple's ColorSync is a standard for managing color on computer
monitors, scanners, and a variety of output and printing devices.
ColorSync can help artists, designers, photolabs and prepress
experts to achieve repeatable, reliable and consistent color on-
screen, in print, and for electronic delivery..

QuickDraw 3D enables your Macintosh to display 3D graphics
applications designed to take advantage of QuickDraw 3D. It also
provides a common file format, called QuickDraw 3D Metafile (or
3DMF for short), for exchanging 3D documents. QuickDraw 3D
also provides acceleration services which support plug-and-play
accelerator cards.

Personal Web Sharing 1.5 contains several new features, including
alias support, upload capability to server, auto flat compression of
files for upload/download, ability to copy 'my address' from control
panel, and new Preferences window for: port number, activity log,
interface to add/edit/delete cgi's and MIME type.

DiskCopy is a utility that will mount disk images on your desktop,
make exact copies of floppy disks from a disk image, convert disk
images from one format to another, and create a disk image from a
mounted volume or individual folder.

Drive Setup installs software (called a disk driver) that allows
your computer to communicate with the hard disk. Use Drive
Setup 1.6.1 to update your disk driver or to reinitialize a disk.
Version 1.6.1 adds support for Power Macintosh G3 computers and
fixes a bug where the write cache on some ATA drives was disabled
following a restart.

Disk First Aid is a utility that verifies and repairs some problems
that may occur on your hard disk drive. This version of Disk First
Aid repairs some kinds of damage to a Mac OS Extended volume
caused by disk repair utilities that are not compatible with Mac OS
Extended format.
